Best Czech Republic Viewpoints
Let´s have a look at the Czech Republic from above. Visit with us our favorite viewpoints. Explore the landscape sceneries from rocks, hills and also one in the very heart of the Czech capital. We are not telling, that these panoramas are the best ones. We just like them most 😊 Here are stated the best Czech Republic viewpoints.
Viewpoint Maj (Central Bohemia)
For us, this is the No.1 viewpoint in the Czech Republic. This viewpoint is on the top of the rock. Fortunately, there are no railings around, which is good, as they don´t spoil the beauty of the place. On the other hand, it might not be a problem to fall down. Just be careful. You will see a beautiful meander of the shape of the horseshoe above the Vltava river. If you are lucky, you will be alone in this amazing place. Then you can admire the rocks and river surrounded by the forests. And you will understand, how beautiful life can be.
Maj lies 45 minutes from Prague, not far from the village Teletin. You can leave the car at the parking place before the village. Then go through the field to the top of the hill. It´s only fifteen minutes. Please, respect the landscape. Other people would like to find this place as beautiful and clean as you did. If you have more time, don´t hesitate, and continue to explore the landscape around. You can spend here a whole day or even several days.
Viewpoint Marys Rock – Mariina skala (North Bohemia)
Bohemian Switzerland is a hilly and rocky landscape in the North Bohemia. Jetrichovice Rocks (Jetrichovicke Skaly) are a fantastic part of it, and Marys Rock lying in their very heart is just the icing on the cake. Climb the iron stairs to the top, where is the wooden gazebo. The view from here is just breathtaking. You will see a big part of the national park. This place is very popular for the sunset observation.
There many opportunities around for the trips. It doesn´t matter if you head „only“ towards Mariina skala or you want to continue. Stop at the parking place close to Jetrichovice and follow the red path. It will take only twenty minutes to Marys Rock. Further, you keep the red pathway and spend the whole day among the rocks.
Jested Transmition Tower – Liberec (North Bohemia)
When you are in the city of Liberec, this tower at the top of the Jested Mountain (1015 meters) is visible from everywhere. And it is good, because the building is absolutely unique and you will hardly find another similar one somewhere else in the world. Why? Because of its shape of the rotating hyperboloid. Jested tower from 1973 serves as a hotel, restaurant and television transmitter. The interior of the hotel and restaurant was very luxury at the beginning of the seventies, and you can still find it inside, of course, renovated.
Walk around the tower and admire fantastic views of the landscape and Liberec city. If you are lucky and there is the inversion character of the weather, you will come from the foggy city to the blue paradise above the clouds.
The whole area around the Jested is now the popular tourist place. There are the skiing pistes, jumping hills, and routes for the Nordic skiing. You can go to the top of the mountain by car or leave it at the parking at the foothill and use the cable car. It takes only five minutes.
Slamnik Mountain & Sky Walk – Dolni Morava (North Moravia)
Dolni Morava is a village in the mountains of Kralicky Sneznik. People often understand these mountains as a part of the Jeseniky Mountains, but it´s not true. Dolni Morava is one of the biggest Moravian skiing centers. Slamnik is actually the highest point in this area that you can reach by the ski lift. It doesn´t matter if you are here in summer or winter, the landscape is charming in both seasons. But you will reach Slamnik by the ski lift only in winter. In the summer period, you will get just to the Sky Walk, and you have to continue by walking for about 45 minutes. If there is an inversion type of the weather, you will appear above the clouds. And you will believe, that you are in paradise. The mountains are everywhere.
Current dominant in the landscape is a new Sky Walk from 2015. It´s attracting thousands of people. You can also reach it by the ski lift. Further, you can explore the surrounding hills for several days. Dolni Morava is to be found two hours from Brno or three hours from Prague.
Novotneho Lavka – Prague Castle and Charles Bridge View
We were hesitating a bit if we should include this viewpoint to our TOP 5. Why? Because everybody knows this panorama, we believed. But maybe it´s not true. Perhaps you are just that one, that has never seen the most famous Czech panorama. It´s view of the Prague castle and Charles Bridge. The biggest castle complex in the world and charming wooden bridge from the 14th century, who wouldn´t like them? It absolutely deserves to be mentioned here.
If you are in Prague only for a while and you don´t have time to visit Prague Castle, go at least to Novotneho Lavka. You can admire the most charming Czech jewels; you can admire the history.
